Diversity, Inclusion and Kindness

Diversity

Montclare Children’s School is committed to creating a preschool community that is representative of a diverse group of families, including, but not limited, to racial, ethnic, national, religious, linguistic, socio-economic, and same-sex diversity.

At Montclare we believe in the importance of creating an inclusive community as a learning opportunity for children. Diversity facilitates different perspectives to be shared, different languages to be heard, different traditions to be taught, and different family units to be celebrated and valued. Our commitment to diversity is reflected not only in our students and families but also in our staff.

Montclare does not discriminate in the administration of our educational policies, admissions policies, or any other school-administered programs.

As more families move to the Upper West Side from various countries, we have welcomed an increasing number of bilingual and multilingual children into our program. Many of our students start at Montclare not yet speaking English. Our staff is well-practiced in working with bilingual and multilingual children, and they are trained to work in partnership with parents to ease the transition of multilingual children into the program. At Montclare we do not discourage families from speaking other languages in their homes.
