01 Mar Teacher Feature: Sarah Gatti
Sarah Gatti, one of our outstanding 4s teachers, has her classroom right next to my office. She graciously agreed to tell me a little bit more about herself for our blog (perhaps she had little choice as she has to walk past me 30 times a day and I am relentless! 🙂
How long have you been at Montclare?
It is hard to believe, but this year is my 6th year at Montclare Children’s School!
What drew you to being a preschool teacher?
For as long as I can remember I have wanted to be a preschool teacher. My mom was a preschool teacher and I always dreamed of following in her footsteps.
Did you ever want to do something else professionally?
Becoming a physical therapist, occupational therapist or speech therapist were professions I have thought about. I am very happy being a preschool teacher, but maybe I will explore one of those paths in the future. Who knows?
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in East Greenwich, Rhode Island, and I love going home to visit my family and spending as much time as possible at the beautiful Rhode Island beaches.
Do you have a favorite hobby or activity outside of teaching?
Outside of school, I love traveling, exploring New York City, and spending time with friends and family.
What are your top three children’s books?
It is truly hard to narrow it down to just three! This question makes me think of my favorite books when I was a child.
What is your favorite (grown-up) movie?
I am not a big movie person. When it comes to TV, Parenthood is one of my favorites!
As a teacher what is the most important lesson you have learned?
I have learned that it’s very important in life to be flexible. Overall, the most important lesson I have learned is that as long as the children in my classroom are happy and safe, the learning happens with everything else we do!
Certified in Early Childhood Education, Sarah Gatti is a dedicated and beloved teacher in our 4s Program.
