20 Nov A Greener Today for a Brighter Tomorrow
At Montclare we are on a mission; to reduce our use of plastic and to be more environmentally aware. After our leadership team studied the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, we honed in on initiative #12 as our focus:
We are looking at every aspect of school life, from classrooms to the events we host, to determine ways in which we can reduce waste and eliminate disposable plastic. We are also identifying ways in which we can recycle more efficiently. Thankfully, we have a dedicated parent body equally committed to making not only Montclare, but also our world, a greener, sustainable environment for all living creatures. For nearly 20 years we have had the privilege of educating tomorrow’s leaders and we believe that it is our responsibility to not only teach but to lead by example.
Over the years, our parent body has launched many wonderful initiatives including a weekly collection of recyclable textiles through Grow NYC, and collecting used books to keep them out of the recycle bin, putting them on the shelves of libraries and other schools in need of books. We know we can do more, and together, we can help support change.
